This is a reference section containing information regarding certain procedures we use at Windmill Nursery.
Nursery staff will wear a uniform bearing the Windmill Nursery logo to make them recognisable as a member of staff. Parents/Guardians should only hand children over to a uniformed member of staff.
Parents/Guardians must also sign the ‘Signing In/Out’ book every time they arrive/depart the nursery premises
A password must be used by any person other than the registered Parent/Guardian when collecting a child from the nursery. The nursery staff must be made aware of this prior to the collection of the child. We will not release a child to anyone other than the Parent/Guardian without a recognised password
Persons under the age of 16 will not be allowed to collect children from nursery
ACCIDENT / INJURY / SICKNESS
It's unavoidable that small children catch all kinds of minor infections. For a speedy recovery and to prevent the other children from falling ill, children who are unwell must stay at home
Windmill Nursery must be notified by telephone of a child’s absence before 9am. The number is 01757 249527
Any child suffering from a fever, ‘doubtful rash’ or anything contagious should be kept home until all symptoms have abated. If your child has suffered from Vomiting or diarrhoea they are not allowed back until 48 hours clear from the last episode.
Nursery staff must be informed of any medication your child is taking. Any medication brought into the nursery must be registered in the ‘Medication Book’. Medication must be clearly labelled with the child’s name, dosage and frequency of dosage.
Note: “Over the counter” medicines will only be administered for a maximum of two consecutive days.
Accident/Sickness at Nursery
Should your child become ill whilst at nursery, staff will make every effort to contact parents/guardians so the child can be taken home. In this respect, please ensure you keep your contact details up to date
In terms of accidents, it is common during your child’s early years for them to sustain knocks etc whilst playing with other children. The nursery staff will endeavour to prevent these accidents
In the case of an emergency, the nursery will have written consent (condition of enrolment) to seek medical attention for your child. This is includes admitting your child to hospital if required. You will of course be contacted immediately
CLOTHING & PERSONAL PROPERTY
We ask that parents/guardians provide a change of clothes for their child. Each item must be clearly labelled with the child’s full name.
Nursery education can include messy activities so we also ask that you do not dress your child in ‘best’ clothes as there is a chance they may get quite dirty.
Children must not bring jewellery, money or any other valuables to nursery.
Note: All articles left at the nursery are at the owner’s risk.
NAPPIES & BOTTLES
Nappies and wipes are provided at no extra cost.
We ask for parents/carers to provide their own formula and bottles for their babies.
Our menu is adapted for babies and young children, we blend and mash (if required) through the weaning process.
